We can see the fruits of people who choose to live ostentatiously rather than modestly. We can see the works of people who put their own luxury and comfort first.
People can see our fruit as well, regardless of how we choose to live. People can see our works, regardless of what we think of luxury and comfort.
What is most important to us?
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” - Corinthians 9:8
Put your thoughts and heart on serving God, and He will give you the means by which you can do good.
Bless you always, Peter, for addressing the perplexing matters in life.
By establishing your ministry, Houses of Refuge, you have taken the leap of faith and signaled to God that you are willing to serve. I don’t know why He hasn’t sent funding to you, but there are a thousand possibilities. Maybe the timing is not yet right; maybe it’s not the best way for your particular talents to serve. Maybe you will rescue a billionaire from an attack, and he will gratefully fund your ministry. Just trust God’s overall plan, and you will be useful to God in ways that will give you peace and happiness for all eternity. He sees that you are trying to do good with your life, and He loves that!

Thanks!
I don't know that I have any of the answers. I just ask questions and follow where they lead.
