I am the only one who can separate me from God. Thankfully, I am the also one who can choose to return to God again—knowing that He is always there, for He has never left.
But again, the word “sin” is derived from a Greek word meaning “to miss the mark” (in archery). Not “you are evil”, just, you missed hitting the target! God loves you, and forgives you for not hitting the target, Peter. You don’t have to fear Judgement Day, because Christ has paid the price, and you are forgiven for your imperfections. We are never expected to be perfect, only to strive to be more Godlike. Bask in the love of God!
Forgiveness has always been God's constant promise to Man. This is the message of many of the Psalms, it is a teaching found in Isaiah and Jeremiah, and it is the essential teaching of Jesus from His ministry hear on earth.
We are each of us already forgiven. We merely have to accept it--which means we have to repent and acknowledge that we need forgiveness.
The one who remains unforgiven is the one who will not admit mistake, or who will not accept responsibility for choosing to make that mistake. The one who says "I don't need to be forgiven", by so saying, guarantees they will not be forgiven.
It would just be nice if we could learn to stop doing the things which make forgiveness necessary!
I admire that you’re working on it, daily. Please keep in mind that the things you wrestle with are bound up with your genius, Peter. Yours is not a mind of ordinary brainpower, and there is a stereotype of the “tortured genius” for good reasons. Be gentle with your self-admonishment. Other geniuses in history, such as Tesla and Churchill, had to wrestle with their inner demons, as well. (Churchill famously dealt with years of depression, yet still managed to write a few dozen books, paint many paintings, run a government, and oh, help win a war or two. One of his contemporaries quipped, “Winston has a hundred ideas a day - four of them good!”)
Well said, Peter. We can count on your eloquence.

🏹 αμαρτία (sin) can also be transliterated as 'against the witness' which is most definitely missing the mark! 🖤 🎯 🔔 ⚖️ ⚰️
