This Christmas day I pray men everywhere have the hope and courage to realize that, through the worship of God and the love of Jesus, those who revel in darkness, who seek to lead men down sinful paths, are, at the last, doomed to fail.
Every year for around forty years, a University of Minnesota astrophysics professor gave a lecture on “The Star of Bethlehem”. He showed that there was indeed a confluence of planets and stars that happened only once in thousands of years, a confluence that produced an exceedingly bright “star”. The historical record of cosmology shows that it occurred right at the time the Jesus was born.
Learned have noted that conjunctions of planets occurred around the time of Jesus birth since at least the 13th century. Even the astronomers who displaced the geocentric understanding of the heavens with a heliocentric one acknowledged these celestial moments.
Cynics will say that such things are merely the movements of planets in their orbits, and declaim the proposition of any greater significance.
People of faith look at those planetary movements and acclaim "Hark! The herald angels sing!"

Coincidence? I don’t think so.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

I choose to stand with the people of faith.
Yes! God uses the majesties of nature and science as mechanisms in His works. It’s truly awe-inspiring.
Okay, one more for your Ian Anderson retrospective:

I am always somewhat amused by those who demand "proof" that God is real.
My answer is always some flavor of "look around. This world in which we live is all the proof we will ever need."
